Vacancy for

Teacher of Photography
Required from September 2020

Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We’re currently looking for a Teacher of Photography to teach pupils from Year 9 to Year 13, including GCSE, A Level or/and International Baccalaureate Diploma.

The Art Department at Wellington enjoys a high profile and has an exemplary record of examination successes. It offers students a choice of disciplines: Fine Art, Art History, Textiles and Photography, as separate endorsements. Join us, and you could soon be playing a vital role in the classroom, as well as in the pastoral welfare of our pupils.

Alongside teaching a standard timetable allocation, you’ll play an active role in the extra-curricular life of the Department too. That means contributing to off-timetable workshops, enrichment extension programmes, life drawing, on-site exhibitions etc. Setting and marking examinations, sharing good practice and playing your part in aspects of school life like coaching games, directing plays and taking pupils on trips; are all elements of a role that will enable you to make the most of your sharp and progressive vision of the subject.

To succeed, you’ll need a good level degree in a Photography/Film related subject and a thorough knowledge of the 13-18 Art curriculum (GCSE and A/IB Level). Expert teaching experience of GCSE, A Level and Visual Art IB Level would be a plus, while previous involvement in extra-curricular activities (professional, amateur or voluntary) is essential. Used to using Adobe packages and conversant with digital media, film/animation and large format printing, you’ll be darkroom literate too. What’s more, you'll be as comfortable working with traditional sketchbooks as you are with digital portfolios.

Not only is this an excellent career development opportunity, it also comes with a generous salary and benefits package. So, if you’re a well-organised and self-motivated team player who strives for excellent in everything they do, and are able to deliver inspirational and informative lessons to the full age range and ability of pupils, apply today.
